Is Nepal victim of Dragon Conspiracy ?

    The COVID 19 has blurred international boundaries and shrunk the world into one big family but not so much for Nepal  which share an 1,800 km open border with Bharat.  Nepal’s cabinet approval of 18 May 20 for cartographic assertion of  Lipulekh Trijunction ( a strip of land on the north-western edge of Nepal, lodged between Nepal, India and Tibet referred as Trijunction) is a domestic disaster by Nepal Government.

  Two days later releasing of new political map by Nepal showing the areas of Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh within its borders increasing Nepal’s total area by 335 square kilometres has been strongly rejected by Bharat reiterating that the area belongs to Bharat, and would be willing to resolve the dispute through diplomatic negotiations post Covid-19 crisis.

  The cartographic assertion after gap of more than 200 years of treaty signed between British East India Company and King of Nepal in 1816, which established the boundary between the two countries that set the Maha Kali River as its boundary with Bharat and the land lying East of it as Nepalese territory is clear signalling of the unfolding of COVID 19 alignments and power plays. Nepal so far has not explained why the areas were not previously included in its national map.

The issue bought international attention on May 8, when Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 80-kilometer road connecting India’s Dharchula to Tibetan autonomous region via the Lipulekh pass, well with in Bharat territory . This was basically undertaken to facilitate movement of Hindu pilgrims to Kailash Mansoravar lake in Chinese administered Tibet as well as strengthening India’s defence supply line.

British government endorsed Sugauli (champaran in Bihar ) Treaty in1816. Bharat accepted and maintained that areas East of the Maha Kali river belonged to Nepal. Nepal’s recent new perception regarding the identification of the Maha Kali river and its origin that Kali originates from Limpiyadhura and the stream originating from Lipu Lekh is called Lipu Khola is baseless and part of China’s “Encircle Bharat campaign” . As per Bharat the river originates from Lipu Lekh and then merges into other streams and tributaries to become the Mahakali. As of now the area between these two streams is referred as Kalapani. Post suppression of 1857 First War of Indipendance of Bharat by Nepal and British forces the maps were issued in1860 where in additional tarai areas of Bharat like Janakpur & kapilvastu  were gifted to Nepal in recognition of the Nepal’s support in suppressing revolt of 1857. Later in 1947 the same maps were handed over to Bharat which endorse Bharat’s position.

  Post China’s showdown in Doklam at hands of Bharat it started to seek new strategic advantage point against Bharat via Nepal thus homed on to control strategic Lipu Lekh pass for military advantage.

The anti Bharat chant by China via Nepal proxy was  triggered as part of Post 5 August rattling by China when last year in November Bharat issued a new map to indicate the changed status of Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory. Nepal raised objections that Kalapani area being shown in Bharat, which Bharat maps have always shown that way without any change from the previous maps of 1860.

  Its China and its communist stooges in Nepal Governance and not “The People of Nepal ” who are creating such narrative between two friendly nations and allegations of encroachment are totally baseless. It would be pertinent to know that much before the Britishers came, or the Gurkha kings annexed Kumaon and Garhwal regions  later surrendered under the Sugauli Treaty the people of Bharat  were using this route for the pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar. China too accepted Lipu Lekh as one of the cultural and commercial transit points with India under its 1954 Agreement. This was reiterated in 2015 in a joint statement during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China.

   Nepal’s Prime Minister Oli’s harsh and undiplomatic words blaming Bharat for the spread of coronavirus in his country and accused New Delhi of inaugurating a road ( under construction sine 2008 ) on its territory appears to be part of bigger design of Communist China through communist regime in Nepal to pressurise Bharat to diffuse International pressure of “Corona Conspirator Tag ” and also to counter 5 August Bifurcation Of Jammu Kashmir with a desire that Bharat give away claim over areas of Leh & laddakh controlled by China as also spread anti Bharat venom in minds of people of Nepal.

Bharat has solved far more complicated issues of land and maritime boundary disputes with Bangladesh only a few years ago . Nepal has endorsed Bharat’s position for nearly 200 years. Nepal maps had shown Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipu Lekh in Bharat. Under the present corona times such acts of claims by Nepal PM are indication of far bigger Dragon conspiracy than that of WHO role in COVID 19 spread.

Refusal by Nepal Army Chief to toe Oli’s line to counter Gen Narawane statement and decision to pend tabling of the New proposed map in Nepal’s Parliament is a positive sign however the decision by Oli to include the area in National Emblem speaks otherwise .Let's hope the diplomacy plays it’s role and peoples wish prevails.

India and Nepal have long been allies, with New Delhi accounting for over two-thirds of Kathmandu’s trade. It supplies 100% of the petroleum needs for the landlocked nation. It would be prudent that Bharat gives some time to Nepal People and expose China and anti Bharat communist in Nepal Government before taking any kind of counter measures and excercising its options in National Intrest…….
